Apart from being an important part of all our body’s functions water is the best energy drink. Consider this classic study conducted by Pitts, Johnson and Conzolazio (1944) at Harvard University in which they had athletes walk on treadmills at three and a half miles per hour in a simulated hot temperature. The athletes were allowed to drink as much water as they lost by sweating. At the end of the experiment (seven hours later), the athletes were not fatigued. They felt they could have kept on walking. On another day the same athletes were asked to repeat the experiment, only this time they were not allowed to drink any water. By the end of three hours they had reached the point of exhaustion.

Although there is much debate about bottled or tap water, and the impact of bottled water on the environment, the most important consideration is to drink adequate amounts of water on a daily basis for health and energy.
